12 Months of golfing

For 12 months of the year, the golfing enthusiast will find the golf courses in Fort Myers Florida open and challenging. And from May through October our golf courses are never crowded, you can pick your tee time and be assured of a leisurely round. Also, many of our private courses are open to the public during these months.

Overview of Golf Community Types
in the Fort Myers Area

Southwest Florida has many communities offering golf course living. Make sure you purchase your home in one where the golf matches your needs.

Golf Accessible or "Pay as you Play": These communities are near or on a public golf course where you have the opportunity to play. Some offer special rates, but they are public courses and can be crowded in season.

Bundled Golf: Homes in these communities come with an automatic membership in the private or semi-private course. There?s no upfront entry cost, but there are annual dues that you must pay. Some courses have over 1600 members. Many of these courses use a system to assign tee times that rewards the infrequent golfer and can restrict the playing time of a frequent golfer, thus allowing a more equitable access to the course for all members.

Private Clubs: Homes in these communities do not include membership in the Country Club. Residents desiring membership must pay an upfront entry (or initiation) fee. Many clubs reimburse all or a portion of this when you no longer want to be a member, or if you move out of the community. Most of these clubs cap membership at 250-350 members per 18 holes of golf available.
